Community Relations

—-
Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc. (KCE) has had a long-standing policy of giving back to the communities it serves. The creation of a Community Volunteer Committee consisting of KCE employees was the first step in taking this community involvement to the next level: endorsing a proactive effort of KCE colleagues to identify worthy causes and organize key events. A testament to KCE’s commitment to community relations and overall business disciplines such as customer service, quality planning, leadership, marketing, training and development was attained in 2007 with the awarding of the Excellence in Business Award by the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Council.
Programs/Organizations with which KCE has been involved, include:
—-• Adopt-a-Highway
——.For the past five years KCE has helped maintain a 2-mile section of Hamilton Boulevard that’s located between
——.Trexlertown and Breinigsville. Four cleanups are organized every year with over 1,ooo pounds of litter and debris
——.being collected annually. It exemplifies KCE’s long-term commitment to the communities that it serves professionally
——.as well as personally through these types of volunteer efforts.
—-• Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem
——.Southside Vision 2014 Open Space Committee/Member and Vision 2014 Eastern Gateway Committee/Member. Involve-
——.ment on both these two committees retains a link between KCE and the City of Bethlehem, where KCE is remembered
——.as a long-time business establishment. These committees are comprised of a wide range of community leaders, including
——.representatives from LVIP, Sands, ArtsQuest, and the City of Bethlehem.
—-• Engineers without Borders
——.Lehigh Valley Professional Chapter (EWB-LVP). EWB-LVP is dedicated to promoting sustainable engineering solutions in
——.the US and abroad. With generous support from KCE, Sean Dooley traveled with three other engineers from the Lehigh
——.Valley to Mattru Jong, Sierra Leone in western Africa in January 2010. The EWB-LVP team partnered with the Centennial
——.Secondary School in Mattru Jong to provide potable water, sanitation, and other infrastructure for its 1,500 students and
——.faculty. KCE proudly supports community service locally and globally.
—-• Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley
——.Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley works in partnership with people from all walks of life and a variety of faith
——.communities to build and renovate houses so that people in need can live in decent homes. Employee volunteers
——.helped in new home construction at a site for which KCE prepared the site development plans and obtained all required
——.approvals and permitting.

—-• Lehigh Valley Land Recycling Initiative (LVLRI)
——.Advisory Committee Member – LVLRI is one of the most successful brownfield redevelopment organizations in the
——.country.
—-• Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC)
——.Real Estate Development Committee Member – The Real Estate Development Committee of LVEDC is mainly focused on
——.mitigating the factors that inhibit or restrain economic growth through real estate development in the Greater Lehigh
——.Valley Region.
—-• Miller-Keystone Blood Center
——.This semiannual blood drive event takes place in May and November at the Bethlehem and Wescosvile offices.
——.KCE has been sponsoring these events for many years and each collects an average of forty-five to fifty units
——.of blood (which can then be used to help save an estimated 140 lives). Many KCE employees, clients and personnel
——.from outside organizations donate their blood for the greater good.
—-• Toys for Tots
——.This well-known U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program takes place October through December of each year and it collects
——.and distributes toys as Christmas gifts to needy children. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy
——.at Christmas, a message of hope to less-fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive,
——.patriotic citizens.
